The University at Buffalo will host a panel discussion on the controversies surrounding the legalization of medical marijuana.
Alumni and faculty experts from UB will review the topic. Medical marijuana became available to patients in New York this year but continues to raise legal, medical and ethical issues.
The “Keeping the Medical in Medical Marijuana” forum begins at 8 a.m. Oct. 7 in 125 Kapoor Hall, on UB’s South Campus.
The keynote speaker is Edward Bednarczyk, chair of UB’s department of pharmacy practice. Panelists are R. Lorraine Collins, UB’s associate dean for research; Jennifer Scharf, an attorney with Erie County Medical Center; and Dr. Arie Weinstock, a UB professor of clinical neurology.
The registration fee is $10. To register, visit the university’s Homecoming Weekend website or call 645-3312. Registration ends Sunday, but walk-up attendees are welcome.
