Maggie Hamilton has been named the new director of community development for Williamsville.
As director of community development, Hamilton will be in charge of setting and guiding the strategy for all economic development initiatives in the village, including lining up state and federal funding sources for large scale projects.
Hamilton, who earned a master’s degree in public administration from George Washington University in D.C. and bachelor’s degrees in economics and social justice from Agnes Scott College in Atlanta, will earn $59,000 a year. She previously served as real estate development manager for Cedarland Development Group.
Mayor Brian J. Kulpa said Hamilton will be expected to pick up on proposed projects previously outlined by village officials, including plans for a commuter shuttle bus along Main Street between Daemen College and the North Campus at Erie Community College.
Hamilton has worked as a project manager for several nonprofit and government agencies in D.C. and Atlanta. She currently serves as financial vice president on the board of the Junior League of Buffalo and is a board member of the Buffalo City Swim Racers.
