LOCKPORT – Jeffrey W. Brown, who pleaded guilty to stealing vehicles from an escort and from his father during what his attorney called “a 24-hour or longer bender,” was sentenced Wednesday to five years in state prison.
Brown, 50, of Stenzel Avenue, Wheatfield, had pleaded guilty to reduced charges of attempted burglary and attempted robbery, both in the second-degree. Besides the prison time, Niagara County Judge Sara Sheldon tacked on five years of post-release supervision.
Brown, under the influence of drugs, called an escort to his home about 2:30 a.m. Jan. 21. Defense attorney David J. Mansour said they got into an argument over her fee. Mansour said the woman grabbed a knife, and Brown was cut on the hand trying to disarm her. Mansour said the woman sprayed Brown with pepper spray, but he grabbed the canister and retaliated in kind before stealing the woman’s car. He drive it to his father’s house in Cambria, where he stole his father’s car and headed for Niagara Falls. There he stole a third vehicle and crashed it on Witmer Road in Wheatfield as he was being chased by police.
