Google Express, competitor to Amazon Prime, comes to Buffalo

Google's shopping delivery service arrives today in Buffalo.

Google Express, akin to Amazon Prime, is now available in much of the northeastern United States as of Wednesday morning, Google has announced.

The service offers two-day delivery. Participating stores include Kohl's, Costco, Whole Foods, PetSmart, Toys R Us, Ulta Beauty and Payless.

The cost for the service is $95 for a one-year membership or the pay-as-you-go method, which starts at $4.99 per order.

Google Express' service has been added in 13 states, including New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

Customers who sign up for a free trial by Oct. 31 can get six months of free delivery, according to an offer on the website.

“Our goal with Google Express is to offer a great shopping experience and connect people with their favorite stores,” Brian Elliott, general manager of Google Express, said in a written statement. “Today, we're very excited to be further expanding our efforts -- making it easy for millions in Buffalo -- and the entire state of New York to get things they need from stores they love -- delivered fast.”
