LOCKPORT – A Town of Lockport man was arraigned Tuesday in Niagara County Court on an indictment accusing him of shooting a Buffalo man July 10 in Niagara Falls.
Jason A. Pryor Jr., 23, of Sweetwood Drive, pleaded not guilty to attempted murder, first-degree assault and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
The victim, Christopher Garrett, 26, was the boyfriend of Pryor’s mother, defense attorney Andrew C. LoTempio said.
Deputy District Attorney Doreen M. Hoffmann said Garrett was shot in the abdomen behind a store at 10th Street and Pine Avenue in the Falls. At the time, police reported the shooter left the scene in a silver BMW.
Police earlier this month issued a request for the public’s help in finding Pryor. Hoffmann said he was arrested Friday on Sixth Street in the Falls. Judge Matthew J. Murphy III ordered Pryor held without bail.
