Mother Nature's planning to take Lake Erie for an early-season test-drive just before dawn Tuesday.
Conditions will be ripe for lake-effect precipitation, according to the National Weather Service.
The lake temperature is unprecedentedly warm - 73 degrees, as of this morning.
Forecast projections show the temperature about 5,000 feet above the lake early Tuesday morning will be just 41 degrees in the wake of a passing cold front.
The winds will be out of the southwest.
The lake-effect rain will begin falling across metro Buffalo starting about 5 a.m., the forecast shows.
The band, according to forecasters, will drift north into the Northtowns by about 7 a.m.
The skies are sure to look ominous when at daybreak Tuesday.
Probably even enough to send shivers over early morning commuters.
But, because temperatures will remain well above the magical 32 degrees on Tuesday morning, they'll just be wet shivers.
