Paul Pratico of the Schenectady Muni Golf Club will take a four stroke lead into Thursday’s final round of the 60th New York State Men’s Senior Amateur Championships at the Brookfield Country Club.
Pratico shot Wednesday’s low round, even-par 72, to match his opening round for a 144 total. Four stokes in back are Stu Harris of Locust Hill, and Bob Chalanick of Ravenwood, who each shot 76 for 148 total.
John Miosi of the host club is in a four-way tie for fourth at 151 after shooting 77 on Wednesday.
In the Super Senior division, two WNY golfers moved into contending position behind Dana Consier of the Monroe GC who is even par at 73-71-144. Jim Smith of Crag Burn (73-74-147), Fred Silver of Niagara Falls CC (74-74-148) and Frank Broderick of Crag Burn (79-72-151) hold the next three positions. Broderick is in a five-way tie for fourth place.
The Senior field was cut at 161 leaving 38 golfers for the final round. The Super Senior cut was at 158, narrowing the field to 27.
