Old Pierce-Arrow building housed Technical Institute
I read the interesting News article about the repurposing of the old Pierce-Arrow building on Elmwood Avenue.
At one time it housed Erie County Technical Institute from the late 1940s until the building of Erie Community College on Youngs Road in Williamsville.
ECTI provided many programs for students, some of whom were Korean War veterans. The courses offered ranged from food service to electrical technology, construction technology, dental hygiene (which I graduated from in 1956) and many more programs that gave students of that era a solid foundation for careers.
This bit of history was omitted from the article, but I think it’s an important part of the whole picture.
