Cheektowaga man on bike arrested in Buffalo for loaded gun

A robbery suspect was arrested after police chased him down and a loaded gun fell from his pants early Monday, Buffalo police said.

Police responding to a call about a robbery in progress near Montana Avenue and Genesee Street saw two men bicycling away from the scene.

One of the alleged robbers, Jimmy Donaldson, 38, of Fath Drive, Cheektowaga, got off his bike and was chased down by police on Rapin Place.

As he was being put into the rear of a patrol car a .25 caliber handgun loaded with six bullets fell from his pants.

Donaldson tried to kick the gun away, then fought with officers and was forcibly subdued, police said.

After he was taken to the Erie County Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries he was charged with criminal possession of a loaded firearm, tampering with physical evidence and resisting arrest.

Police are continuing to search for Donaldson’s cohort.
