Kevin Basta, MBA has joined Chiampou Travis Besaw & Kershner LLP as a full-time staff accountant. Basta has passed all four parts of the CPA exam and graduated from Niagara University.
The University at Buffalo received $50,000 from the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Office of Investment and Innovation to assist small business startups in Western New York. UB was among 68 accelerators and incubators to receive a total of $3.4 million to boost economic impact across 32 states and the District of Columbia. The cash prize was part of the agency’s third annual Growth Accelerator Fund Competition.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Erie County received a grant from the Buffalo Rotary Foundation to purchase 10 locally made Bak USA Atlas 10 tablets for use by children in its Site Based Mentoring Program. The tablets will be used by nearly 60 children who are enrolled in the SBM Program with the help of their Big Brother or Big Sister and provide them with opportunities for educational activities and access to information for school assignments.
