Pleasure boat hit reef in Niagara River

A lone sailor was rescued uninjured after his 18-foot pleasure boat hit a reef near the International Bridge, and the boat was towed to the small boat harbor about 8:15 p.m. Monday.

A Coast Guard boat and several Buffalo Fire Department crews were sent to assist after witnesses told authorities that the boat had gotten off the reef but might be drifting toward the Peace Bridge. The boat was towed by Lake Erie Towing from near the Canadian shoreline.
