A Carl Street man was arrested early Saturday and charged with taking part in the Friday night beating and robbery of a man at Main and East Utica streets.
Northeast District police charged Demetrius J. Coleman, 21, with first-degree robbery and second-degree assault, after the victim identified him in a photo array.
The victim told police six people attacked him about 8:15 p.m. Friday, that Coleman struck him in the head with a gun, breaking his eyeglasses, damaging a tooth and inflicting swelling on his forehead. A witness said the attackers included three men and three women.
The victim said the assailants stole his cellphone and a wallet containing $300.
