If you’re headed to the Bills game tonight from the Northtowns, you should prepare yourself for some slow traffic.
A tractor-trailer accident that occurred late Thursday morning on the westbound mainline Thruway in Cheektowaga continued to cause traffic backups more four hours later, traffic officials said.
Traffic cameras showed that the westbound side of the Thruway was moving slowly from the Youngmann Expressway to Walden Avenue. Also, congestion was reported this afternoon on the eastbound Youngmann from I-990 to the Thruway and on the Niagara Thruway from the Ontario St. exit to the Skyway.
The crash on I-90 happened at about 11:22 a.m. near the Walden Avenue exit, State Police said. The driver of the rig suffered non-life-threatening injuries, State Police said. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
