Indianapolis man killed in Thruway crash

SHERIDAN – A tractor-trailer rear-ended a pickup on the eastbound Thruway early Wednesday causing the pickup to roll over and killing its driver, State Police said.

The pickup driver, who was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene, was identified by State Police as Rush D. Addair, 81, of Indianapolis.

The crash, reported at about 3:30 a.m., happened about five miles east of the Dunkirk exit and closed Interstate-90 between the Dunkirk and Silver Creek exits for about five hours. Authorities reopened the Thruway at about 8:30 a.m.

State Police identified the driver of the rig as Volodymyr Halperin, 41, of Georgetown, Ont. He was uninjured in the crash.

Iesha K. Lampton, 21, also of Indianapolis, was a passenger in the pickup. She suffered minor injuries.

Members of the agency’s Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating the crash.
