Robert J. Miller of Hamburg, a longtime teacher in Lackawanna schools, died Aug. 28 in Center for Hospice and Palliative Care in Cheektowaga. He was 72.
During Mr. Miller’s 35-year tenure with the Lackawanna City School District, he coached for both the basketball and tennis programs along with teaching social studies. For several summers he ran a summer tennis program for the Erie County Parks Department.
Mr. Miller was born in Lackawanna and was a graduate of Baker Victory High School and St. Bonaventure University. He also served in the Army Reserves.
He is survived by his wife, the former Mary “Lorrie” Conrad; one son, Gregory; two daughters, Maureen and Kathleen Brund; one brother, Jack; two sisters, June Donovan and Jeanne Ring; and two grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Sept. 3.
