A 21-year-old man robbed an older couple at gunpoint early Friday in their Huntley Avenue home and then directed them to a bank to withdraw more money.
The victims? The gunman’s grandparents.
The incident was reported just before 5 a.m. when the grandmother was able to alert police that she was being forced at gunpoint to withdraw money from an ATM in the University Plaza.
The grandfather already had handed over $220 at gunpoint to the young man after being threatened at their home. But apparently the grandson wanted more money because he forced both grandparents into their car at gunpoint and ordered them to drive to the University Plaza to withdraw money.
Amherst police apprehended Tajenee Johnson, who was charged with first-degree burglary, first-degree robbery, second-degree kidnapping and petit larceny.
Police believe a longarm was used in the incident.
