3 injured in buggy after horse spooked by passing vehicle

Three people were hurt after a horse and buggy crash Thursday morning, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office said.

The crash happened on Clymer Sherman Road just before 8 a.m., the sheriff’s office said.

A passing vehicle apparently spooked a horse causing the horse to run off the road. The buggy was separated from the horse and rolled over, according to the sheriff’s office.

Three people were treated at the scene and then transported to UPMC Hamot in Erie, Pa. The extent of their injuries was not disclosed by investigators.

Motorists are reminded to use caution and reduce speeds when approaching and passing horses and buggies, the sheriff’s office said.
