LOCKPORT – A Lockport woman admitted in court Wednesday that she robbed a Lockport gas station.
Constance C. Thornton, 33, of Robinson Road pleaded guilty in Niagara County Court to the top count of third-degree robbery of the Sunoco Gas Station at 5895 S. Transit Road on March 30. She did not show a gun but stole $50 in property from the cashier, according to the court report.
When Thornton was asked why she committed the crime, she told Judge Matthew J. Murphy III, “I wasn’t in my right mind. I wasn’t thinking.”
She told the judge she is seeking mental health treatment.
As part of the plea, Thornton will seek mental health court and interim probation, but she could face up to seven years in prison when she is sentenced on Nov. 3.
