Expect increased wait times at the border over Labor Day weekend

Labor Day is celebrated in the U.S. and Canada and that means you can expect increased traffic at border crossings this holiday weekend.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is reminding travelers to anticipate delays and prepare accordingly.

“It’s the last holiday weekend of the summer and tends to a busy one for border crossings,” said Port Director Cary Frieling.

Customs officials recommended crossing the border during off peak times: generally before 7 a.m. or after 5 p.m.

They also urged travelers to consider downloading its Border Wait Time app available in both Google Play and Apple stores to their mobile devices for real time border crossing traffic conditions. Current border traffic conditions can also be found at www.cbp.gov/travel/advisories-wait-times
