The National Buffalo Wing Festival celebrates its 15th anniversary Labor Day weekend.
New this year are ways to make guests more comfortable (covered on-field seating and misting stations), and ways to work off the wings (the first Buffalo Ninja Warrior Challenge and the Chicken Wing 5K). Both events are open to kids and adults.
New fun stuff includes an Oogie Games Zone and a Wing Fest app. Guests can earn virtual badges for prizes and participate in the Wing Fest Scavenger Hunt.
And there are plenty of wings with more than 100 flavors ranging from fruit-based sauces to scorching hot rubs. A new dry rub category makes its debut in the sauce competition. Six new U.S. restaurants will be in attendance along with one from Brisbane, Australia. (View restaurants at BuffaloWing.com/Restaurants.)
The festival is Sept. 3-4 at Coca-Cola Field. Admission is $5, with children 8 years and younger admitted free. Jumbo wings cost $1 each. A VIP Party Deck ticket is $25 with festival admission and includes private seating, a complimentary beverage, a private VIP cash bar, VIP badge, commemorative 15th anniversary cup and $5 off a festival T-shirt. Wings not included.
