A 58-year-old Buffalo man was struck by a vehicle as he tried walking across the Niagara Thruway near Church Street on Monday night, State Police said.
The vehicle did not stop and the injured man was taken to Erie County Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries to his shoulder and face, Trooper David M. Howard, public information officer for State Police Troop T, said in an email.
The incident happened at shortly after 10 p.m.
There was no description of the vehicle involved and it was not clear why the man, whose name was not released, was trying to cross the highway, which at that point is six lanes wide and has a speed limit of 55 mph.
The investigation is ongoing, Howard said.
