A Wheatfield man who almost struck a police car in the City of Tonawanda early Monday faces a drunken driving charge.
City of Tonawanda police charged Steven M. Thurston, 22, of Pinelake Drive, after he allegedly made a police car swerve onto a curb to avoid a collision.
Thurston was making a wide turn onto Broad Street just after 1 a.m. when the incident occurred, police said.
Thurston registered a blood-alcohol content of 0.16 percent. He also was charged with making an improper left turn and crossing over center lines. He was held on $250 bail, police said.
