Buffalo Stars playing overtime hockey

The Buffalo Stars began play in the Eastern Junior Elite Prospects (Hockey) League by winning four of five games over the weekend in the 16U Southern Connecticut Showcase. Three of the Buffalo wins and the one loss came in overtime.

Connor Krupa’s goal gave the Stars a 2-1 win over the Long Island Rebels last Friday. On Saturday, Buffalo edged the York Devils, 3-2, before an overtime loss, 5-4, to the New York Cyclones. On Sunday, The Stars edged the Philadelphia Revolution, 3-2, on Kyle Lee’s goal at 2:38 of OT and followed that with a 3-2 win over the Long island Arrows when Joe DiBenedetto stole the puck at the blue line and broke in to roof the game-winner late in OT.

The Stars will play their Western New York League opener against the Bisons on Sept. 7.
