A line of severe thunderstorms downed trees and power lines Sunday afternoon throughout Niagara County, officials said.
Most of the damage occurred between 4 and 5 p.m. around Sanborn and Cambria Center, according to Bob Hamilton, meteorologist at the National Weather Service in Buffalo.
The Niagara County Sheriff’s Office also took reports of damage in northern Wheatfield, southern Lewiston and Walcottsville.
National Grid reported 295 customers without power early Sunday evening, with most of those in Wheatfield, Niagara Falls and Town of Niagara. Power was expected to be restored by 9 p.m., the utility said.
Monday will be sunny and clear with above normal temperatures but less humid, said Hamilton. The normal high this time of year is 75 but Tuesday’s highs will reach the low 80s in most places, he said.
