The Western New York Flash twice had to come back from one-goal deficits to gain a 2-2 tie with the Houston Dash Saturday night at Rhinos Stadium in Rochester.
The tie slowed the Flash’s push for a playoff berth upon the resumption of play in the National Women’s Soccer League after the Olympics break. WNY (8-5-3) fell to fourth place in the league standings with 27 points, one point behind the Chicago Red Stars (16-8-4).
Lynn Williams assisted on both Flash goals. She fed Lianne Sanderson for a goal in the 36th minute that leveled it at 1-1. Denise O’Sullivan had given Houston the lead in the 28th minute.
Kealia Ohai put Houston back in front in the 53rd minute but Makenzy Doniak scored to tie it in the 58th minute. That was the end of the scoring in the remaining 32 minutes plus four minutes of added time.
