Teen burglary suspects arrested after foot chase

Four teens who tried to flee from state troopers investigating a suspected burglary Tuesday afternoon in Clarence were arrested and each charged with third-degree burglary, a felony, State Police said.

Investigators recovered from their car a large amount of goods suspected to have been stolen and said the teens are also suspects in some recent larcenies from vehicles, as well as criminal trespass incidents, in Clarence, Amherst and the Town of Lancaster.

Shortly before 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, troopers were dispatched to James Court and Health Drive in Clarence regarding a suspicious vehicle.

The car, a gray 2006 Saturn Ion, was parked unoccupied on James Court, officials said.

Troopers determined that youths from the vehicle had entered a home on Heather Drive. As troopers approached the residents, four teens fled and a foot chase ensued.

Four arrests were made and a large amount of “merchandise” was recovered from the Saturn, troopers said.

The suspects were identified as Kyle J. Beauchamp, 18; Aiden M. Hyde, 18; Lance C. Fowler, 18; and a 15-year-old female whose name was not released because of her age. In addition to the burglary charge, the male suspects were charged with endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor.

The suspects were transported to State Police barracks in Clarence and processed. The girl was turned over to her parents and is to appear at family court on a later date. Beauchamp, Hyde and Fowler were arraigned in the Town of Clarence Court and remanded to the Erie County Jail.

Authorities asked anyone who has been the victim of a recent vehicle or home larceny or burglary who hasn’t yet reported it to contact State Police at (585) 344-6200.
