The Family Help Center of Buffalo, a child-focused human service agency, hired Kate Joyce as its new executive director. She received her master’s degree in social work from Syracuse University.


Lockport Ice Arena & Sports Center Inc.’s board of directors appointed Timothy Bulmer as the new executive director for Cornerstone CFCU Arena. He will succeed outgoing executive director James Sullivan.


Ian Johnston, Busani Ntini, Michael Schoell and Christine Stolzenburg were promoted to manager at Freed Maxick ABL Services, LLC.

Company Connections

BlueCross BlueShield of Western New York announced an alliance with Amerigroup Partnership Plan to help administer and manage the company’s Medicaid managed care programs. Pending approval from Department of Health, BlueCross BlueShield will begin to enroll new members in the coming months and anticipates the full transition of management services to Amerigroup by the end of 2016.


Shannon J. Hodges, a professor of counseling at Niagara University, teamed with one of his former students, Kimber Shelton, and Michelle K. Lyn, associate director for clinical services at Georgia Tech University, to publish “The College and University Counseling Manual: Integrating Essential Services Across the Campus.”


Orchard Park-based Curbell Plastics, Inc., suppliers of plastic sheet, rod, tube, film, adhesives, sealants, and prototyping materials, was ranked No. 5 on Modern Distribution Management’s 2016 Top Plastics Distributors list. Curbell Plastics was the only company located in the Northeast to make the top five companies.
