Speaker Paul D. Ryan will appear at two Western New York events later this month as part of national fundraising efforts aimed at preserving his Republican majority in the House of Representatives.
Invitations arriving at the homes of potential GOP donors this week are announcing Ryan’s Aug. 29 event at the Hotel @Lafayette for “Team Ryan,” described as a joint fundraising committee for Ryan for Congress, a political action committee called Prosperity Action Inc. and the National Republican Campaign Committee.
A breakfast event at the Oak Hill Country Club in suburban Rochester the following morning will benefit Rep. Tom Reed, R-Corning.
According to the mailed invitations, the Buffalo event on Aug. 29 is sponsored by Rep. Chris Collins of Clarence and his wife, Mary.
Other top sponsors include Paul and Barbara Harder, who have been active in local congressional fundraising, and Buffalo developer Nick Sinatra, a former White House staffer for President George W. Bush.
A $10,000 donation will gain admittance to a VIP photo reception, while $1,000 includes a reception and dinner.
Ryan then travels to Rochester for the Reed event with contribution levels at $500, $1,000 and $2,700.
It will benefit Reed’s 2016 campaign against Democratic challenger John Plumb, and lists approximately 15 co-chairpersons.
