Amherst Middle School staff and students on Thursday were set to deliver about $5,700 worth of equipment to the Eggerstville Youth & Community Center Clubhouse, 4110 Bailey Ave.
Staff and students at the middle school spent much of the last school year fundraising for the Eggertsville Boys and Girls Club after the clubhouse shared a wish list.
“In June, when the funds were totaled, we realized we couldn’t purchase everything from their wish list, but we feel the items we selected will be put to very good use,” said Amherst Middle School Principal John Griesmer.
Among the items that will be donated are a streaming Blu-ray player with Wi-Fi technology; a 3D projector; a 55-inch smart LED TV and 10 Kindle Fire kids edition tablets. The clubhouse also will receive a cabinet sound system; three beanbag chairs; 11 eight-foot tables; a set of two-way radios; two microscopes; a portable basketball hoop; three round tables with 12 chairs, and 10 paint smocks.
“We are incredibly proud to deliver such a large shipment to such a worthy organization,” said Griesmer.
Amherst Middle School has engaged in year-long service projects for the past two years. Next year the service project will support both Carly’s Club for Kids & Cancer Research in WNY and Roswell Park Cancer Institute.
