It took until mid-August but the Buffalo Bisons finally fell victim to the weather. Consistent, heavy rain over Western New York caused the Herd's first postponed game at Coca-Cola this season.
Saturday's game against the Pawtucket Red Sox was officially postponed about an hour and 10 minutes after the scheduled first pitch.
The teams will make up the game playing two seven-inning games on Sunday. The game will be single admission and gates open at 11:30 a.m.
Rain Delay Ticket Policy: Fans with a ticket for Saturday's game can redeem it at the ticket office for a future game subject to availability and excluding special events. Exchanges can be made at any time the rest of the season.
Hot August: Designated hitter Jesus Montero is averaging .433 (13 for 30) in August. He entered Saturday's slate of games with 131 hits, one behind Casey McGehee of Toledo for the International League lead. His season average of .314 is tied for third in the league.
Extra-base hits: Middle infielder Ryan Goins has seven extra-base hits in his 19 games with the Herd. Goins has five doubles and two home runs. Along with hitting, he's getting on base. He has reached safely in 17 of those 19 games for a .360 on-base percentage.
In relief: Righty Dustin Antolin has allowed just one earned run in his last 18 outings. Since June 11, he has posted a 0.52 earned run average with 19 strike outs against 10 hits in 17 1/3 innings. He ranks second on the Herd with nine saves.
Sabres Night: The Bisons announced that Brian Gionta and Zemgus Girgensons will be at Monday's game. They will each throw out a ceremonial first pitch and then hold an autograph session in the Coca-Cola Field concourse from 7-8 p.m.
