Total damage was estimated at $85,000 in a fire early Saturday that damaged two East Eagle Street houses – one vacant and the other occupied.
Fire officials said the fire broke out about 2:13 a.m. in a vacant 2½-story home at 869 E. Eagle, then spread next door to 871 E. Eagle. Damage was placed at $75,000 to the vacant house and $10,000 to the other.
The Red Cross was assisting two adults and a child living in 871 E. Eagle. One firefighter suffered a minor injury, authorities said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
