Expect some lane closures and highway closures next week on the Scajaquada Corridor (Route 198) as work continues on the Elmwood Avenue Bridge over the highway, the state Department of Transportation announced Friday.
Here’s the schedule:
• Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., and again on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., the westbound side of the 198, in the vicinity of Elmwood Ave., will be reduced to one lane.
• Thursday, and Friday from about 6 p.m. until 10 p.m., the westbound 198 westbound in the vicinity of Elmwood Ave. will be reduced to one lane, and at about 10 p.m., this section of the 198 will be fully closed to all traffic, in both directions. The highway is scheduled to be closed overnight and will reopen the following morning by 6 a.m.
During these full highway closures motorists will be directed to follow posted detours. Route 198 westbound traffic will be directed to exit and then re-enter NY Route 198 at the Elmwood Ave. exit, transportation officials said. Route 198 eastbound traffic will be directed to exit at Grant Street, and follow a posted detour along Forest Ave. to Delaware Ave., where traffic may re-enter NY Route 198 eastbound, officials said.
Motorists are advised to expect delays and allow for additional travel time.
The closures are being done so that workers can erect steel beams across the span.
