WNY Driver of the Week: Jeff McGinnis

Hometown: Ransomville.

Division: 358 Modified/Ransomville Speedway

Lowdown: Jeff McGinnis is the son of retired Modified driver Don McGinnis. Jeff began his driving career during his teenage years as a successful Go-Kart racer at Merrittville Speedway. He has advanced up the division ladder and has enjoyed a successful Sportsman and 358 Modified driving career.

Accomplishments: Jeff won multiple Stock Heavy Go-Kart class championships at Merrittville before graduating to the Sportsman ranks in 1997. He was the 2006 Ransomville Speedway Sportsman Driver of the Year, having captured the Niagara County dirt track oval’s Sportsman season point championship that season. While in the Sportsman, Jeff captured feature victories at Ransomville, Genesee and Humberstone and was a two-time winner at Ransomville of the annual Sportsman Super DIRT Series event. He moved up to 358 Modifieds in 2007 and captured the five-track, Lucas Oil 358 Modified Championship Series that same season. Jeff was the 358 Modified Rookie of The Year at Ransomville as well. He has four career 358 Modified feature race wins at Ransomville, and has been voted Ransomville’s Most Popular Driver for the last 13 years.

Hobbies: Jeff enjoys hunting and fishing when not racing as well as spending time with his 3-year-old granddaughter Rayne Martin.
