Former Nichols lacrosse standout Spring Sanders has been named to the United States women’s national team. The selection came after a three-day tryout camp in Sparks, Md. She was picked as a defender.
Sanders was a two-time high school All-American and an All-Western New York performer at Nichols. As a senior, she won the Tom Borrelli Award as the best girls lacrosse player in the are. She went on to play at Northwestern University.
The 36 players named to the American team will train together in preparation for the Women’s World Cup, which will be held in England. Eventually, 18 players will be selected to represent the U.S., which hopes to win its third straight title.
