OLCOTT – You can sample wines, listen to music and dance under the stars at Jazz Sea Sunset, the only fundraiser for the Olcott Beach Carousel Park, from 7 to 10 p.m. Tuesday at the Olcott Yacht Club.
The event will feature the Sophisticats on the patio, Timbre Land Whiskey Band in the wine tent, and piano favorites with Eric and Susan Buhyoff in the dining room. In addition, a barbershop quartet will roam the site.
Free wine tastings will be offered by Schulze Vineyards and Winery, Black Willow Winery, Victorianbourg Wine Estate and Blackbird Cider Works, and there also will be a cash bar. In addition, several stations will offer light hors d’oeuvres prepared by Simply Tasteful.
The evening will feature a silent auction with artwork donated by Manning McCandish, Emily Morrissey, Dennis Stiererand Kathleen Giles. Also, a door prize has been donated by Bridget Shaw Photography and there will be a wine raffle, tour Niagara raffle and 50/50 split. The event is chaired by Gina Guido-Redden.
All proceeds benefit the carousel park at 5979 Main St., now in its 14th year. A throwback to simpler times, there is no park admission, the park is operated by volunteers, and all rides are 25 cents. This event helps provide the park’s operating funds.
This year’s event also will help restore a vandalized pavilion panel door, according to Rosemary Sansone, park president. She added that last year’s fundraiser helped offset the costs of bathroom expansion and the establishment of an office in the park.
The park boasts a restored 1928 Herschell-Spillman Carousel, five vintage kiddie rides, a vintage arcade featuring Skee Ball games, and a 1931 Wurlitzer Band Organ.
Jazz Sea patrons are urged to park at the Harbor Inn on Route 18 on Tuesday, and take the trolley to the yacht club at the end of Buren Street in Olcott, as parking is limited. Tickets are $25 and may be purchased at the Olcott Beach Carousel Park ticket booth, by calling 778-7066or at www.TicketRiver.com.
