UB School of Nursing gets grants to hire two nurse practitioners for rural WNY

The University at Buffalo School of Nursing has received two grants totaling nearly $2.2 million to hire two primary care nurse practitioners to serve in rural and underserved areas in Western New York, as well as provide scholarship grants to support 23 students pursuing a doctor of nursing practice degree.

A large portion of the funds from the federal Health Resources and Services Administration will be used to establish a new academic clinical partnership with Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center to hire the nurse practitioners who will also serve as part-time UB faculty. The nurse practitioners will provide services at two Native American health care clinics and at the Golisano Center for Community Health. The grant will also help improve telehealth capabilities.
