KeyCorp on Wednesday announced its executive leaders in Western New York, as its acquisition of First Niagara Financial Group takes root.
Some First Niagara officials step into prominent roles in Key’s local operations, while some incumbent Key officials take on expanded responsibilities, both here and in Rochester.
Gary Quenneville, a longtime Key leader, was named regional executive for the bank’s newly created upstate New York region, consisting of Buffalo, Rochester and Central New York.
Quenneville has served as Key’s Buffalo market president, in addition to heading the bank’s entire New York state territory.
With the addition of First Niagara’s employees and branches, Key has split its New York state territory into the upstate market, which Quenneville will lead, and the East region, consisting of the Capital Region, Hudson Valley/Metro New York, Connecticut/Western Massachusetts, and Eastern Pennsylvania. First Niagara’s Peter Cosgrove will serve as regional executive for the East region.
Key named Buford Sears as Buffalo region market leader and commercial and private sales bank leader. He currently serves as Western New York regional president for First Niagara and managing director of specialized banking.
Sears joined First Niagara in 2010 from M&T Bank Corp.
Tony Rizzo will lead Key’s commercial banking team in the Buffalo regional market. He had led First Niagara’s commercial banking group.
Jim Barger, who has led Key’s commercial banking team for Buffalo and Rochester, will also head an expanded Rochester commercial banking team and serve as Rochester market president.
John C. Wright will lead Key’s business banking team in the Buffalo region. He previously led First Niagara’s business banking group. Tim Brown, who has led Key’s business banking team for the Buffalo and Rochester markets, will also lead an expanded Rochester team.
Elizabeth Vealey of Key will continue to lead combined wealth and investment management services as head of the Key Private Bank team in Buffalo.
Key’s Sharon Lochocki will serve as regional retail sales leader for Key’s retail banking team in the Buffalo and Rochester markets. Mike Anderson and Matt Zvolensky, formerly First Niagara area retail leaders, will serve as Key area retail leaders with Jim Burns, Kawanza Humphrey, Steve Pease and Joe Philippone.
Key’s Steve Mendelsohn and First Niagara’s Stephen Pezzino will serve as sales leaders of the bank’s Buffalo region market mortgage team.
First Niagara’s David Kensinger and Key’s Karen Patulski will head Key’s Buffalo region market Key Investment Services team as sales leaders.
“The combined industry expertise and strong community ties that these individuals bring to the team gives me great confidence for the future,” Quenneville said in a statement.
First Niagara customers will continue to use their First Niagara accounts and other services until the fourth quarter, when accounts are expected to be converted to Key.
