Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz has announced the appointment of Timothy Hogues as the new commissioner of senior services.
Hogues replaces Randall Hoak, who left the position last month to take a job with the AARP. Prior to being appointed commissioner, Hogues served as community planning coordinator and long term care coordinator for the Department of Senior Services.
Hogues served as an Erie County legislator in 2012-13. He has also served as a church minister at Elim Christian Fellowship in Buffalo. He graduated from the University at Buffalo with a bachelor’s degree in business administration.
Hogues’ appointment is contingent on confirmation by the Erie County Legislature, though he has already begun working in that position.
“He has both public- and private-sector experience and has served as an Erie County legislator,” Poloncarz stated, “so he knows how the department works and how to move it forward.”
