OPALINSKI, Theresa M. (Fezer)

OPALINSKI - Theresa M. (nee Fezer) (Theresa M Fezer, MPA) Of North Tonawanda, July 28, 2016 after a courageous battle with Mesothelioma at the age of 58. Beloved wife of Michael J. Opalinski; daughter of the late Eugene and Raphaella Fezer; dear sister of Gene (Pat) Fezer, Paul (fiancee Carol) Fezer, Mary (Robert) Johnson and Tom (Wendy) Fezer; also survived by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and her furry kids Zach and Tux. Theresa was the Marketing Manager
for Watson Bowman Acme. Early in her career, she was an intern for Congressman The Honorable John J. LaFalce as well as NYS Assemblyman Matthew J. Murphy Jr. She was the youngest Executive Director of an anti-poverty agency in the US (NICAP) and obtained numerous grants and funds for that agency allowing it to grow to service all of Niagara County. Theresa was also a member of the Niagara University Alumni Advisory Council, a Board Member and Chairperson of the Niagara County PIC for several years and played a major role in the acquisition of Grant Funds and design of the streetscape in the Village of Lewiston when she was employed at Wendel. She truly enjoyed her love for Border Collies. Theresa was active in Local CPE events as well as many local dog agility demonstration events and presentations on the Border Collie breed. Theresa and her husband of 33 years seemed to be most happy, relaxed and at peace when running and working with their dogs. Theresa bravely fought the battle over Pleural Mesothelioma for over five years, through the surgeries, chemo Phase 1 and 2 trials and what she truly wished for each time she spoke to a new clinician was that what she was going through would be able to help someone else with this terrible disease. She passed peacefully surrounded by her husband and family. Family will be present for a Memorial gathering Thursday, August 4th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the SABER
FUNERAL HOME, 549 Oliver St., North Tonawanda (692-0271). Family and friends are asked to gather at Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, (Oliver St,) for a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated Friday at 9:30 AM. Interment to follow at Mt. Olivet
Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Theresa's honor to Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation, Inc., or Glen Highland Farm Border Collie Rescue.
