Restore Como Park Lake, lighthouse to former glory
I enjoyed Como Park Lake all my life until I married and relocated with my husband. Returning after more than 50 years, my heart still has many wonderful memories of this park and all it had to offer. Why let it deteriorate any further? This lake has been enjoyed by so many people – both young and old. It is a shame today’s young people and families may never have an opportunity to have the wonderful memories I have.
The lake itself – and especially the lighthouse – are so unusual and should not be allowed to fall into further ruin. Once they are gone, they will be gone forever.
People pay sufficient county taxes that there should be some funds available to help Como Lake and its lighthouse. Perhaps our county executive and his administration need to make a trip to Lancaster and see for themselves how much potential there is for Como Lake.
Mark Poloncarz recently bragged about the surplus the county has in its budget. It is fitting some of this should be used to dredge the lake and return this once beautiful lighthouse to its former place in the county. If this is not done now, when?
Calls to Poloncarz on this matter have note been returned. Maybe he needs to be reminded that he is supposed to be serving us, rather than neglecting to respond to those who pay his salary.
