Rex Ryan may not be in danger if no playoffs
For the past few months, I have been reading articles in the paper and hearing on the radio and TV regarding the Bills reaching the playoffs and the speculation that if they don’t, Rex Ryan could be done as coach.
In my estimation, I believe that Mr. and Mrs. Pegula are smarter than these so-called fans and/or experts and realize that it takes more than just two years to shape a team into a good playoff contender.
Today’s breed of players show lack of responsibility
Football players today just don’t get it. The NFL drafts these players because of their gifted talents.
They are paid millions of dollars, yet they find some way to screw it up. Rookie Jonathan Williams and Karlos Williams of the Bills are prime examples. These two had bright futures ahead of them but somehow fell into the trap of how to screw it up.
Players just don’t learn from others’ mistakes and now have to pay the price for being unresponsible.
There was a time when players respected the game
Maybe if we were to pay Chris Sale more money he would not act like a 3-year-old, but how much does it take to be a classy individual?
I am embarrassed by the childish act by Sale. To cut up baseball uniforms, not only your own but others, is a reprehensible act. Being part of sports for 30 years of my life, which included baseball beginning at the News Suburban and Police Athletic League, I was always one to look up to ballplayers.
Mickey Mantle, Yogi Berra, and Derek Jeter are all class acts. Can you picture any of these players pouting and cutting up uniforms? Perhaps our major problem as baseball fans are the accolades and money we pay with ticket prices. As fans, we support them going to watch them play, not to act like children. Of course, not to mention the drugs, the domestic violence, and any other problems that are portrayed by professional athletes.
I know that Babe Ruth, Mantle and others certainly had problems but I am of the belief that Joe DiMaggio, Willie Mays and Ted Williams all played because they love the game of baseball.
It has been said that baseball is a kids’ game so I guess Chris Sale is still a kid that needs to grow up.
