Ties sometimes can feel like a win in soccer, and the Western New York Flash certainly was happy to get that deadlock in its game with the host Houston Dash on Saturday night.
Lynn Williams scored in the third minute of injury time in the second half to give the Flash a 3-3 tie with the Dash. WNY moved to 8-5-2 as it enters the break for the Olympics.
The Flash’s deficit was even greater earlier in the second half. Houston (3-7-3) led, 3-1, with about 20 minutes to go in regulation time when Jess McDonald scored in the 71st minute. Kealia Ohai had scored twice for the Dash earlier in the second half to give her team a two-goal lead.
Lianne Sanderson had the other goal for the Flash. Rachel Daly tallied for Houston.
WNY is off until Aug. 27, when it hosts Houston at Rhinos Stadium in Rochester.
