The Town of Tonawanda closed the Sheridan Drive pedestrian bridge Friday due to safety concerns.
Recent inspections of the bridge by the town engineer raised concerns about the safety of the bridge, town officials said. The bridge, which provides access across Sheridan Drive just east of Bayard Avenue, is closed until further notice. While no detour for the bridge is available, pedestrians can cross at the intersections of Delaware Road to the west, and Colvin Boulevard to the east.
According to the town, the state Department of Transportation is looking into options for the bridge.
