Olcott beach reopened to public after safe water test

OLCOTT – The Niagara County Health Department reopened Krull Park Beach on Lake Ontario to swimming Thursday, a day after closing it because of high E. coli bacteria readings in the water.

A new test on water sampled Wednesday showed safe bacteria levels, said Ronald Gwozdek, principal public health engineer.

The beach has been closed several times each summer in recent years because of E. coli counts. This was the second closing this season.
