Lockport man who tried to steal marijuana vows to get clean

LOCKPORT – A man who burglarized a Town of Lockport apartment in an effort to steal marijuana decided Thursday to risk seven years in state prison if he can’t stop using the drug.

Moziah L. Townsend, 20, of Genesee Street, Lockport, pleaded guilty to third-degree burglary in regard to the April 11 break-in on Robinson Road. Niagara County Judge Matthew J. Murphy III gave him a chance at court-supervised drug treatment, but if Townsend, who admitted smoking pot as recently as Wednesday, can’t follow the program’s rules, a prison term is likely.

Charges remain pending against a co-defendant in the burglary, Kahlil D. James, 18, of Price Street, Lockport.
