Four people were struck by gunfire in four separate shootings on Wednesday in Buffalo, according to police reports. Two of the shootings happened within several blocks of each other on the city’s West Side.
None of the victims suffered life-threatening wounds.
• A 25-year-old man walked into Erie County Medical Center early Wednesday after police said he was shot on the 500 block of Sherman Street. The victim told police he was walking on Sherman when he was shot at about 12:30 a.m. The man, whose name was not included in a news release from police, was treated and discharged from the hospital.
• A male was shot in the thigh while walking near Rhode Island and 14th Street around 11:20 or 11:30 a.m., according to a police report. The victim told police two people with bandanas over their faces shot at him from inside a passing car. He was driven to Buffalo General Medical Center in a private vehicle. The age of the victim was not included in the report.
• A 30-year-old man was shot in the foot during a robbery at a home on the first block of Brayton Street at about 3 p.m. The victim told police a person knocked at the door, demanded money and shot once towards the floor and then at the person’s foot. The victim was struck in the toe. Police said the robber made off with cell phones and jewelry . The victim was treated at Erie County Medical Center and discharged.
• A 14-year-old boy was shot in the right shoulder shortly after 4 p.m. at the basketball court at Riverside Park. The victim was driven to ECMC in a private vehicle. He was treated and discharged Wednesday. Police are investigating whether the boy knew the shooter.
Meanwhile, police on Thursday identified the city’s latest homicide victim.
Christina Banks, 27, was fatally shot at about 10:30 p.m. Monday in her home in the 200 block of Vermont Street. She was rushed to Erie County Medical Center where she died.
