The Canisius College hockey team will be taking a major road trip during the coming season - to Alaska.
The Golden Griffins will play Alaska (Fairbanks) on Oct. 14, and Alaska Anchorage on Oct. 15. Both games will be played in Fairbanks.
It’s a highlight of a nonconference schedule that also includes a trip to Grand Forks, N.D., on Oct. 7-8 to play North Dakota, the defending national champion. It’s the first time since the 1999-2000 season that Canisius has played a defending NCAA title-holder (Maine).
Canisius also has a pair of home dates with Penn State on Oct. 28-29, and host St. Lawrence on Jan. 6-7. The first home games of the season are against Robert Morris on Oct. 21-22. The Griffins have 16 home games slated for HarborCenter.
The Atlantic Hockey playoffs begin the weekend of March 3-5. The conference finals will be held in Rochester on March 18.
