Larry Ott’s featured driver of the week is Michele Maltby

Age: 24.

Hometown: West Seneca.

Division/Home Track: Hornets/Holland Motorsports Complex.

Lowdown: Maltby became the third generation of her family to win a feature race event at Holland Motorsports Complex when she captured the checkered flag in the Hornet division race held at Holland on July 9. She joins her father Ken Maltby and grandfather, the late Floyd Maltby, as Holland victors. Michele’s sister Nikki Maltby also competes in the Hornets. The Maltby family won the Friends of Auto Racing Family in Racing Award last December. Michele is engaged to 2013 Holland Hornet champion Ben Russo.

Career Accomplishments: Michele started her driving career at Holland in the Hornet class in 2013, where she captured that division’s “Rookie of The Year” and “Best Appearing Crew” honors. In 2015, Michele won a pair of heat-qualifying races at Holland and was named Holland’s “Most Improved Driver” with a fourth-place finish in the Holland Hornet points.

Favorite Food: Chicken Parmesan.

Favorite Music: Country, especially Rascal Flatts.

Hobbies other than racing: Enjoys attending cruise night custom car shows with her father Ken.
