Hot dogs and books amount to $10,000 over the years for Collins

What started as a small get-together at the Collins library 10 years ago has raised more than $10,000 for the library over the years.

The latest hot dog fundraiser by Erie County Legislator John J. Mills, R-Orchard Park, brought in $1,410 for the library, bringing the total for 10 years of the annual events in Collins to $10,345.

“The funds really have helped us to host quality programs and bring patrons into the library throughout the year. This year we plan to use the funds for additional children’s programming,” said Library Director Abigail Barten-McGowan.

Mills holds the hot dog fundraisers at libraries in his district throughout the summer.
