AURELIO, Frank Joseph

AURELIO - Frank Joseph Resident of Jacksonville, FL, born on October 30, 1933 in New York City, NY, left us to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 24th, 2016. Frank is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Helen Gwen Aurelio, his four children, John - born in Monterey, CA, Frank - born in Stuttgart, Germany, Thomas - born in Coco Solo, Canal Zone, Panama, and Mark - born in Rome, Italy. He is also survived by his younger brother Thomas of Buffalo, NY, and three grandchildren, Chris, Brandon, and Joseph. Frank was a loving and devoted husband and father. Frank and his family traveled throughout the world where many wonderful memories of their travels were made. Frank is a graduate of Buffalo Middle School, and Grover Cleveland High School, Buffalo, NY. In both schools he was the President of his Senior Class. Frank graduated from Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service and was President of his Senior Class there too. He received his Masters of Science Degree in Administration, Public Personnel Management from George Washington University. Frank served in the Army Reserves and as a Department of Defense employee for 37 years. He retired as a full Colonel in the Army Reserves and as a Senior Executive Service Member, Level 4, serving as the Deputy Assistant to the Secretary of Defense for Intelligence Oversight, Office of the Secretary of Defense, The Pentagon, Washington, D.C. In Frank's career, while Frank was serving at the American Embassy in Saigon, near the fall of Saigon, he was also one of the personnel that were evacuated from the rooftop of the American Embassy. Frank was lifetime member of the Military Officers Association of America and the Reserve Officers Association. He was a member of the American Legion Post 129, Jacksonville Beach, FL; National Association of Retired Federal Employees, Chapter 172, and the Italian American Club of Jacksonville, FL. A visitation will be held on Friday, July
29, 2016 from 6-8 PM at the
HARDAGE-GIDDENS GREENLAWN FUNERAL HOME. A funeral service will be held for Frank on Saturday,
July 30th, 2016 at 10:30 AM at the
Hardage Giddens Greenlawn Funeral
Home, 4300 Beach Boulevard, in Jacksonville, FL. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the National Stroke Association/Stroke.org in Centennial, Colorado.
